Welcome to the Fourth Ward Neighborhood Watch.

Hello, my name is Joseph P. Sullivan and I am the President of the Fourth Ward Neighborhood Watch.  I reside at 63 Margaret Street. I have always believed that we live on the best side of Binghamton. However, with changing times, we must adapt to keep our neighborhood safe and beautiful. I have decided to start a local neighborhood watch that will ensure a safe environment for our children and our families.
I am sure that you have all seen the Neighborhood Watch signs on street corners, but how many of us know what they actually mean? My goal is to bring local residents together to collectively watch our neighborhood. Below are a few areas that I would like to start with:

1. I believe that every resident needs to know what to look out for.  What is suspicious activity? What warrants a call to the police? These are questions that residents need to know the answers to.

2. I believe  that every resident should have important phone numbers available in case of an emergency. Whether they be police, fire, ambulance, the Mayor's office, or our City Councilman's numbers, we must ensure that immediate contact can be made to these groups or individuals if the need arises.

3.  I believe that we must have a link to the New York State Sex Offender Registry to keep the parents of our community informed of the dangers that exist.

4. I believe that we should have a database of all pets in our neighborhood in case a person loses a furry member of their family.

5. Finally, and no less importantly, I want people to socialize with their neighbors. I miss the days of block parties and sending an apple pie to the new neighbors. There are countless shut-ins and elderly people that don't have regular visitors and any contact with them could brighten their day.
